Exhibitionist | 2006 | 9’ 30 minutes | colour | sound | digital video
Exhibitionist is a filmic work that explores choreography and the theatre of social interaction.
Filmed within the context of a public art gallery, a performative intervention was staged amidst the visiting public. Shot candid style, movements are improvised in response to the ‘natural’ movements and interactions of the incidental public. At times movements by the public take on a performative like quality thus obscuring the candid nature of the filming process.
Filmed on location in the Turbine Hall in the Tate Modern Gallery in London during Bruce Naumen’s Raw Materials exhibition, a sound installation of spoken text.
Made in collaboration with movement artist Colleen Bartley.
